World Skills South Africa Competition 2018

The World Skills Competition is the world’s largest skills competition. Every two years hundreds of young skilled people, accompanied by their teachers and trainers, gather together from around the world to compete before the public in the skills of their various trades and test themselves against demanding international standards.

In the 64 years of existence it has grown to be the top international education event, in which more than a 1000 talented competitors from, over 70 countries across the globe, participate every two year (2).

Though promoting Vocational Education and Training, World Skills International (WSI) aims to spread awareness about the critical contribution that high level, technical and artisan skills, make towards a country’s achievement of economic success.

WORLD SKILLS SOUTH AFRICA

World Skills South Africa (WSSA) is an initiative of the Department of Higher Education (DHET) that is supported by industry leaders, government and education experts.

Formally established in 2013, WSSA aims to contribute to economic growth by establishing a culture that values technical and artisan skills.

It is committed to the promotion of high demand, advanced technical and artisan careers paths, are needed in the rapidly growing 21st century, global environment.
