Purpose of the Trainee development role (In Service Trainee):

The Logistics Operations trainee development role is designed to broaden your experience, business acumen, cross functional expertise and critical professional skills. Dow Logistics Operations implement best practices and standardized work processes across the company’s businesses, keeping operations running smoothly, efficiently and cost effectively. From Supply Chain to Customer Services to Information systems, the leading edge knowledge and experience will strengthen and complement your graduate achievements. The incumbent will train in conjunction with the regional supply chain team to ensure product supply and demand meets with business and customer requirements by working within defined parameters for inventory levels, cost optimisation, and logistics service provider efficiency.

Typical areas of expertise covered in the role

  • Supply/demand balance requirements to meet customer needs.
  • Transport/warehouse performance in meeting customer needs.
  • Tracking of customer orders and delivery schedules.
  • Logistics activities between company, transporter, warehouse and terminals.
  • Transactions in SAP environment.
  • Business sales versus forecast, and inventory performance versus targets.
  • Supply chain operations initiatives through data analysis and implementation of action plans.
  • Operational planning issues and conflicts and escalate as appropriate.
  • Logistics systems knowledge as required by the functional role.
  • Logistics work process improvement. Project opportunities to assist in resolving productivity issues.
  • Knowledge of supply chain principles, systems and processes in solving logistics issues.
  • Participates and leads supply chain related projects as determined by supply chain leader.
  • Logistics vendor performance and data analysis.
  • Project management expertise
Requirements
  • Graduate qualification preferably in Engineering, Chemistry, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business administration or related field of study.

  • Technical proficiency in the use of basic computer applications and sound analytical skills are necessary.
