Quantity Surveying Intern
Overview: The incumbent is responsible for assisting with all quantity surveyor tasks required to ensure timely, cost-effective, safe, and quality delivery of the project.
Requirements: National Diploma/ Degree in Quantity Surveyor
Duties: Capturing tender documents for the Bid Evaluation Committee (BEC). Assist with balancing of Bills of Quantities (BOQs). Assist with the preparation of variation orders. Assist in adjusting Prime Cost amounts. Assist with site measurements and preparing payment certificates. Capturing data on the electronic filing system. Assist with the preparation of final accounts. Assist with the preparation of close-out reports. Attend and provide QS inputs at critical internal unit/ project meetings. Follow up on issues related to QS and report feedback accordingly on a weekly and monthly basis.
Skills and Competencies: Computer literacy (MS Office) – advanced Projects, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Understanding of estimating and cost engineering of construction services and works. Knowledge of WinQS, QS Plus, and similar software will be an added advantage. Knowledge of construction contracts (e.g. JBCC, NEC3, GCC, FIDIC etc.)
Project Management Intern
Overview: The Project Manager Intern is responsible for assisting the Project Manager in his duties of directing, coordinating, executing, monitoring, and controlling the project/s while remaining aligned with the strategy, commitments, and goals of the organization’s resources
Requirements: National Diploma/ Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.
Duties: Assist with ensuring that all Pre-Contractual Conditions are satisfied before instruction to proceed is issued to the PSP/Contractor. Assist with carrying out quality and performance reviews for all projects during construction up to close out stage. Assist with the management of baseline performance plans (Practical Completions & Cashflows) for each project. Monitor and ensure compliance with the OHS Act. Ensure that Contracts/Projects Record Management and filing align with the construction stage of the Project in Soft and Hard Copy. Assist with reviewing contractor payment certificates and Professional Services Providers (PSPs) fee claims for approval. Assist with managing the variation order process for all deviations. Prepare and timeously submit Weekly and Monthly Progress Reports in the required templates and formats. Attend and participate in site meetings (site handover, technical and progress meetings). Assist with ensuring that PSP and contractors are undertaking their responsibilities as indicated in the SPSA and JBCC.
Skills and Competencies:Computer literacy (MS Office) – advanced Projects, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Good project and programme management and administration skills. Understanding of the built environment legislative/regulatory environment
Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Finance Intern
Overview: The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the SCM and Finance unit
Requirements: National Diploma/ Degree in Accounting / Supply Chain Management or relevant qualification
Duties: Effectively process supplier invoices. Responsible for the preparation of supplier reconciliations. Assist with the preparation of debtor’s invoices. Assist with the filling of project expenses. Assist with EFMS Administration. Assist with verifying professional registrations, tax compliance, COIDA, and CSD registration. Assist in ensuring that processes are compliant with SCM regulations. Capturing of SCM plan schedules. Assist with sending out and responding to communication with internal and external stakeholders. Assist with populating and updating contract registers. Ensure all current Bid Committee members have valid appointment letters. Assist with resolving internal and external queries regarding SCM processes and procedures.
