3-6 Month Internship for Graphic Design & Marketing Students

The Greek Merchant is looking for talented, fashion crazy interns to join our dynamic environment. You need to be an individual who has keen interest in design and digital trends, and above all else, you’ll need to be highly motivated and committed to achieving your full potential to your best of your abilities. You will be developing visuals for some of the biggest names of the South African and International entertainment industries. Candidates in their final year of studies will be given preference as all interns showing promise will be considered for full time employment.

INTERNSHIP PERIOD: Internship to begin immediately with a minimum 6 months of employment. Thereafter, we can discuss a renewal for a further 3-6 months. As most of our applicants are students we understand that full days are not always possible so we are open to discuss a flexible internship timetable that suits your studies as well as our company needs.
COMPENSATION: This is an unpaid internship, however we will provide a stellar recommendation letter once the internship is complete. Interns will also be given the opportunity to attend any shows/concerts that The Greek Merchant manages as well as receive free merchandise.

Marketing/Social Media:
- Maintaining website content
- Creating email campaigns
- Managing social media presence
- Copywriting and drafting press releases
- Produce Facebook and Twitter content for promotions
- Manage online contests and giveaways
- Facilitating audience surveys
- Audience development initiatives
- Tracking industry trends
- Brain Storming and implement long term marketing plans
- New product procurement & sourcing new content
Requirements:
- Exemplary writing ability
- Fluency of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest.
- General knowledge of search engine keywords and optimization
- Aptitude for a fast-paced work environment
- A self-starter with the ability to manage several projects at once
- Excellent time management skills
- Quick learner
Graphic Design:
Assist with design and layout for a multitude of creative assets including (but not limited to):
- Creating social media graphics for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media platforms
- Contests & promotions
- Web banners
- Creating mockups
- E-mailer designs
- Brainstorm ideas for various creative projects
- Basic graphic design as needed
- Content generation for e-commerce platforms
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
- Knowledge of Adobe Dreamweaver is a plus.
- Aptitude for a fast-paced work environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Bonus points for photography skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Quick learner
