This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the Sales Engineering team in a fast-paced, growing organization within a dynamic and unique industry. Based in Johannesburg, you will be involved in design and technical analysis of satellite solutions as well as support of technical sensitivity analysis and technology comparison projects. An interesting and challenging internship within a worldwide leading company in an international team. The six months internship is remunerated and starts in July 2016. Responsibilities
- Become familiar with and maintain a working knowledge of responsible customer’s lease/s and capacity assignments
- Access specific tools and databases to gather and maintain information regarding customer lease parameters, antenna registration, power levels, activation status and other related information
- Propose suitable capacity and resources and perform iterative and comparative link budget analysis and optimisation for presentation to the Sales Capture Team
- Record/update resource allocation through mechanisms such as antenna description form and line-up authorisation to a high degree of accuracy and detail
- Develop and maintain a good working knowledge of African geography including national place names, boundaries, geopolitical situational awareness and other related data
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of radio wave propagation, modulation and coding technology and related practice and theory as specifically related to satellite communications
- Assist in preparing technology and solution demonstrations, especially with hands-on configuration, testing, documentation, replication and related actions
- Perform other tasks as required
- Contribute to meet/exceed the Sales Capture Team’s targets and long-term objectives
- Perform specific technical analyses such as competitive benchmarking, technology comparisons, technical sensitivity analysis
Requirements
- Current and advanced student in Engineering specialising in Telecommunications or related field (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree)
- Fluency in spoken and written English (additional languages considered as an asset: French)
- Computer literate (MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
- Strong mathematical aptitude, analytical skills, detail oriented
- Interest in the media/telecommunication business
- Good presentation and communication skills as well as time management/priority setting ability
- Client-service oriented, diplomatic manner, team work, accuracy, self-initiative, taking ownership, follow thru
- Willingness to travel within Africa, as required
- Ability to work autonomously as well as in team (multi-cultural and collegial environment)
- Can-do attitude; ready to work in a challenging and international environment
- South African resident or work permit
